Are you suffering from ankle pain or dysfunction?
Have you been told that you need surgery to fix the problem, but you're concerned about the recovery time and potential scarring?
At South Hill Foot & Ankle Clinic, we understand your concerns and offer a minimally invasive solution that can help you get back on your feet with minimal downtime and discomfort.
Minimally invasive surgery, specifically arthroscopy, is an advanced surgical technique that allows our podiatric surgeons to repair ankle problems with only two small incisions, each only half a centimeter in size. This means that you'll experience minimal scarring, reduced risk of infection, and faster recovery times.
During arthroscopy, a small camera (between 2 to 4 mm in diameter) is inserted into the ankle joint through one incision, while small shavers and burs are inserted through the other incision. The camera provides a clear view of the joint, allowing our surgeons to identify and repair scar tissue, bone spurs, and other defects.
One of the most common conditions treated with minimally invasive arthroscopy is bone spurs. These lumps or protrusions of bone can be posttraumatic or congenital and can cause significant pain and limited mobility.
Depending on the location of the spur, it can be removed with arthroscopy, reducing pressure on the affected area and increasing range of motion.
At South Hill Foot & Ankle Clinic, we are committed to providing our patients with the latest and most advanced treatments available. Our podiatric surgeons are highly trained and experienced in performing minimally invasive surgery, and we are dedicated to helping you regain your mobility and quality of life.
